Spyderco Black Blade G-10 Paramilitary Knife

When Spyderco introduced the Military Model years ago it gathered fans like the Pied Piper. Critics claimed it too big, too expensive and more knife than the average user needed. Likewise, fans heralded the knife's big performance attributes and snapped them up, firmly positioning the Military Model as one of Spyderco's top all-time sellers. Carrying a large folder for many is simply a non-issue. For others in our sensitive PC world, smaller equates to friendlier, less shocking, and in some place just plain legal. We arrive back at the question knifemakers ask everyday, "How do we satisfy both worlds and make a smaller knife that acts, cuts and performs like a large knife?" Welcome the Para-Military, a two-thirds sized version of the Military Model. Its flat-ground S30V blade stretches a non-eyebrow raising 3-3/32" (81mm) long and has a carbon level of 1.45% with the addition of vanadium and nitrogen for over-the-top edge retention. Coated in black, the blade is subdued and non-reflective. The Spyderco Round Hole is generously sized at 14mm for opening the knife blade with gloved (or large) hands. Its black G-10 handle shuns chemicals and temperature fluctuations and expands at the butt-end keeping the hand from slipping off the handle while making hard pulling cuts. The package is topped off with a nested Compression Lock making the ultimate mid-sized survival knife designed to level trees, carve tent stakes and never generate a second glance. *Please note, actual production model varies from prototype shown above. Screws and lock are silver, not black.

Spyderco Assist 1 FRN Knife

Spyderco Assist 1 FRN Knife

Spyderco named this knife after its principal job function, to Assist. The Assist was designed for emergency/fire/rescue professionals (and for the well-equipped civilian) who rely on their knives to function flawlessly under pressure. Even with twenty-five years experience in making rescue knives, Spyderco is still offering new high-tech features and the Assist model showcases the latest and greatest in this knife genre. The VG-10 patented blunt-tipped blade is a toothy eighty-percent SpyderEdged for aggressively cutting seatbelts and fibrous material. The last inch of the tip we've left PlainEdge for detailed cutting (think sharpening pencils). Perched above the Round Hole, a Cobra Hood positions the thumb directly over the hole for quick blade deployment, then doubles as a leveraging platform for the thumb. The wavy pattern cut from the top of the blade (created by a fireman from Sweden) and along the inside of the handle let you place a piece of rope (between the half-open blade and handle) and scissor the blade shut- especially convenient for cutting rope in-and-around flesh without having to fully open/expose the knife's blade. The FRN handle is a molded wonder of Bi-Directional textured contours and bulges that ergonomically wrap around your palm. In the closed position, squeeze the blade deeper into the handle and a retractable carbide tip protrudes out from the base for breaking glass. Outlined in safety orange on the handle's spine is a shrill and attention-pitched survival whistle. Carries left/right handed, tip-up by means of a tension wire clip.

  • Length overall 8 3/8" (213 mm)
  • Blade length 3 11/16" (94 mm)
  • Blade steel VG-10
  • Length closed 4 7/8" (124 mm)

Spyderco Spin Stainless Steel Knife

Spyderco Spin Stainless Steel Knife

The Spin may be the runt in Spyderco’s Little Big Knife line of folders but scores points by combining compact size and workhorse attitude. Eric Glesser of Spyderco’s engineering department created the Spin to be the smallest possible folder with the largest possible cutting performance and it had to be stylish. Its 1-13/16” (46mm) blade is high-carbon VG-10 stainless steel with a Wharncliffe profile. This shape offers a utilitarian long PlainEdge cutting surface and slightly rounded tip that works well when cutting with detail or even cleaning fingernails. The blade folds into a flat stainless steel handle that’s laser engraved with a spider web. On the back of the handle is an Integral Lock®. This LinerLock design modification was created by custom knifemaker Chris Reeve, using the handle scale as the lock’s liner. With the back portion of the handle doubling as both handle and lock, the need for internal liners is eliminated and the knife can be manufactured incredibly slim yet strong. The Spin comes with a three-screwed stainless clothing clip that positions the knife tip-down in a pocket and also offers a way to money-clip your cash or attach to a necktie.

  • Length overall 4 1/8" (105 mm)
  • Blade length 1 13/16" (46 mm)
  • Blade steel VG-10
  • Length closed 2 7/16" (63 mm)
  • Cutting edge 1 5/8" (41 mm)
  • Weight 1.35 oz. (38 g)
  • Hole diameter 3/8" (10 mm)
  • Blade thickness 3/32" (2.5 mm)
  • Handle material STAINLESS STEEL

Spyderco Salt 1 Rust Free (Black) Knife

Spyderco Salt 1 Rust Free (Black) Knife

A myth in the knife world is that, out there somewhere exists steel with high-performance cutting abilities that cannot rust. A Japanese steel foundry recently turned this myth into reality with the introduction of a steel they call H1. H1 is a PH steel meaning it is a precipitation-processed alloy, that's rolled hard without heat-treating and has .1% nitrogen which acts like carbon in the steel matrix, but does not react to chlorine making rust. Surprisingly, it holds a sharpened cutting edge comparable to the premium knife steels being used in the industry by most knife manufacturers. One of Spyderco's top sellers is the Delica Model. Users gravitate to it due to its sensible size, versatile shape and tested durability. It makes complete sense to plug H1 into this model, so Spyderco did, with a couple modifications. Salt I has a more rounded tip that's a bit thicker at the point. Since H1 was developed specifically for use in and around water, rounding the tip better met the requirements of cutting chores associated with boating and fishing. The Spyderco Round Hole is increased in diameter to 14mm facilitating easier access for gloved or wet hands. All inside/outside steel components (lock bar, pins and clip) have been treated making them impervious to rust and pitting. Volcano Grip texturing covers both sides of the FRN handle for friction-resistance to slipping. David Boye's locking lever dent is a standard feature that inhibits the lock from accidental release if the handle is gripped with great force. A matching black titanium pocket clip positions for left/right tip-up portability. A hole running through the hollow clip screw makes a lanyard pipe for stringing thong or cord through when using around water.

  • Length overall 7" (178 mm)
  • Blade length 3" (76 mm)
  • Blade steel H-1
  • Length closed 4" (102 mm)
  • Cutting edge 2 11/16" (68 mm)
  • Weight 2 oz (57 g)
  • Hole diameter 9/16" (14 mm)
  • Blade thickness 3/32" (2.5 mm)

Spyderco Atlantic Salt Rust Free (Black) Knife

Spyderco Atlantic Salt Rust Free (Black) Knife

It's been speculated the sheepfoot shaped blade originated with mariners who found the rounded tip especially beneficial when the knife was accidentally dropped (think working on a ship in pitching seas) as it couldn't stab the foot when hitting the deck. It's also been hypothesized that commanding officers on these ships preferred rambunctious hardworking sailors carry knives without pointed tips, especially while in port blowing off steam after months at sea. Spyderco's Rescue knives are long favored by seafarers and the design has since been embraced by rescue workers, EMT's and ranchers-anyone cutting around flesh in an emergency. Now available in a rustproof version, the Atlantic Salt is a modified Rescue made with state of the art non-rusting H1 steel. H1 is a precipitation-hardened steel containing nitrogen instead of carbon, which cannot rust. The hollow-ground blade is available PlainEdged orSpyderEdged with both configurations offering remarkable cutting performance in and around fresh and saltwater. Textured with a Volcano Grip pattern, the molded fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) handle comes in black or visible marine yellow equipped with a reversible titanium pocket clip for right or left- handed use. We recommend threading a thong or lanyard cord through the lanyard hole for back-up retention around water, where once dropped, a knife is often irretrievable or lost.

  • Length overall 8 1/4" (210 mm)
  • Blade length 3 11/16" (94 mm)

  • Length closed 4 5/8" (117 mm)

Spyderco Pacific Salt Rust Free (Black) Knife

Spyderco Pacific Salt Rust Free (Black) Knife

A big myth in the knife world is that out there somewhere is a knife that seriously cuts but cannot rust. Knives claiming these super powers are usually made with steels that are unable to hold a cutting edge for any measurable amount of time. Finally a steel foundry in Japan called Myodo Foundry makes this myth a reality with the introduction of a new steel called H1. H1 steel is a PH steel, meaning it is a precipitation-hardened steel. "Huh" you ask? Utilizing .1% nitrogen instead of carbon to harden the steel, it reaches a Rockwell hardness of 57-58rc. Spyderco uses H1 on its new C91 Pacific Salt model. It's PlainEdge or SpyderEdge and is similar in shape and size to Spyderco's best-selling Endura model but with a slightly more rounded tip. All internal steel parts are treated as well making them impervious to rust and pitting and of course, salt. Those challenged by cleaning and maintaining their knives will find the Pacific Salt stays rust-free even if put away wet. The blade's hole is enlarged to 14mm for easier opening/closing with gloved, wet or cold hands. Textured in a checkerboard pattern, the yellow FRN handle has a grippy texture and is fitted with a reversible titanium pocket clip which positions for right-handers and lefties. The addition of a lanyard hole offers a backup method of attachment (thong or lanyard cord) for use around water where once dropped, a knife is often lost or elusively hard to retrieve.

  • length overall 8 5/8" (219 mm)
  • blade length 3 13/16" (97 mm)
  • blade steel H-1
  • length closed 4 15/16" (125 mm)

Spyderco Tasman Salt Rust Free (Black) Knife

The Tasman Salt folder features a Hawkbill blade. This distinctive curved cutting tool has a claw-like tip that originated in the marine/commercial fishing industry. Cutting in and around water involves cutting line, netting and rope and it’s done quickly, often at arm’s length while pulling downward or toward you. The blade’s arcing tip holds what you’re cutting against the sharpened edge keeping it from slipping off the tip. Spyderco’s new rustproof Hawkbill blade is made with state of the art non-rusting H-1 steel. H-1 is a precipitation-hardened steel containing nitrogen instead of carbon, which cannot rust. The hollow-ground blade comes PlainEdged or SpyderEdged with both configurations offering remarkable cutting performance in and around fresh and saltwater. Textured with a Volcano Grip® pattern, the molded fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) handle is offered in black or visible marine yellow. It’s equipped with a reversible left/right hand titanium pocket clip (also non-rusting) that positions the folder tip-up in the pocket. We recommend threading a thong or cord through the lanyard hole for back-up retention around water, where once dropped, a knife is often lost or irretrievable.

  • Blade is 2 15/16" long.
  • Overall length is 6 13/16" long.
  • Weight is 2 oz.
  • Blade is made from H-1 non-rusting steel.
  • Handle is fashioned from Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon.
