Spyderco Native Black Blade FRN Knife

Engineered for the human hand, the Native's ergonomic design maximizes cutting ability while minimizing discomfort and fatigue. This model is all about combining performance and comfort. Since the portion of the knife most in contact with the user is the handle, that became key while the model was in initial development on the drawing table. We've created a handle pattern with two separate finger choils. The first choil (where the blade and handle meet) allow positioning the index finger closer to the knife's sharpened edge for control over the cutting surface. Behind the first choil, the second positions the hand farther back on the folder for dexterous cutting while pushing the blade away from you. Bi-Directional Texturing molded into the FRN handle form varying levels of steps minimizing forward or backward sliding. Carved out of the locking lever is a David Boye Dent insuring the lock remains safely engaged even when gripping the handle forcefully. A section of non-sharpened serrations line the blade's spine yield an additional slip resistant point for the thumb. The blade itself is hollow-ground CPM-S30V steel with a weight reducing swedge ground from the spine. A black steel tip-up clip can be placed ambidextrously on both sides of the handle via a barrel-shaped screw that doubles as a lanyard.

Sypderco Remote Release 2 FNR Knife

There are sports and activities where attaching a folder above the waist makes sense (think spray skirts, buoyancy belts and overloaded duty belts). The Remote Release's spring loaded shackle clip fastens to a carabineer, belt loop or ring and releases by pulling back on the textured release pin. The model permits releasing and one hand opening without having to rotate the knife in the hand. Kraton handle insets inhibit skidding in the hand. Lanyard hold for backup/secondary cord attachment.

Sypderco Military Model Black Blade Knife

Sypderco Military Model Black Blade Knife

A cornerstone in Spyderco's Save and Serve line up, the Military Model came about after someone asked Spyderco's owner Sal Glesser, "If your son were going into the military what folding knife would you send him with?" For certain, it had to meet the requirements of a high-performance, light-weight folder designed for hard use. To create an even more subdued blade Spyderco has blackened the blade with a BodyCote black matte coating. Since the steel is the spirit of the knife, CPM-S30V with almost 2% carbon seemed the logical choice for the blade given its reputation for long-term edge retention and rust resistance. The 'Millie' has a modified clip-point blade coated in non-reflective black then laser cut with a 14 mm Spyderco Round Hole for quick deployment and for use with gloves. Texturing above the hole hold the thumb in contact with the blade's spine during cutting for confident control over the sharpened edge. The handle scales are G-10 with the lock's liner nested (inlayed) directly into the scale, pumping up lock strength without the addition of bulky liners. Spacers between the scales create a gap running the handle's full length exposing the inside workings for inspection and cleaning. The handle flares slightly at the front end creating a finger choil and at the butt end, which keeps the knife from slipping forward or backward in the hand while sawing or making tough or aggressive cuts. A contoured black metal clip is set for right-hand tip-down carry. Made in Golden, Colorado.

  • Length overall 9 1/2" (241 mm)
  • Blade length 4" (102 mm)
  • Blade steel CPM-S30V

Spyderco Chinook II G-10 Knife

Spyderco Chinook II G-10 Knife

Master at Arms James A. Keating is known worldwide for his Filipino influenced martial arts style and his tactical equipment and training company jamesakeating.com. James introduced Spyderco to a folding knife design he blueprinted to complement his MBC style which he called the Chinook. The folder has a modified-Bowie-shaped blade and an MBC rated locking system so the knife could be used for cutting as well as passing or blocking. These combined features have since taken root with the MBC crowd and additionally found favor with the hard-use camp/hunting/outdoor knife industry. The Chinook's 3-3/8 inch blade is hollow-ground CPM-S30V with an upward sweeping tip and full belly. Inserted between G-10 scales, dual steel liners make a thicker than customary back lock constructing one of the strongest locking systems found on any Spyderco model. There is no sliding forward or backward on the handle because swells on both ends expand making a combination choil/handguard in the front and a pinky shelf at the butt. These expansions work to hold the hand on the handle in either forward or reverse grip. A three-screwed black metal clip is tapped for tip up/down and left/right carry. Made in Golden, Colorado.

  • length overall 8 5/8" (217 mm)
  • blade length 3 3/4" (95 mm)
  • blade steel CPM-S30V
  • length closed 4 7/8" (124 mm)

  • weight 6 oz (169 g)

Spyderco Centofante 3 Knife

If you move in custom knife industry circles and/or attend knife shows you will have heard of Frank Centofante. In addition to being a celebrated and longtime custom knifemaker Frank is a past President of the Knifemaker's Guild, a strong voice in the cutlery world and a revered and respected craftsman. Collaborating on knife designs with him is something Spyderco has been fortunate enough to do several times. Our latest offering is the Centofante III gentleman's folder. The Centofante III has a thin-profiled, lightweight FRN handle. Two channels are furrowed out of the handle for better grip and a Palladium silver Spyderco bug is inlayed into its surface. For added security and convenience the back-lock is positioned midway on the spine and David Boye Dent is cut from the locking lever. The VG-10 blade has both a hollow-grind and swedge-grind with non-sharpened spine serrations to hold the thumb steady when cutting. A black steel pocket clip positions for tip-up/down, right-hand carry.

  • Length overall 7 9/16" (192 mm)
  • Blade length 3 1/8" (79 mm)
  • Blade steel VG-10

Spyderco Stainless Steel Flight Byrd Knife

Spyderco Stainless Steel Flight Byrd Knife

To date there are five models: The Cara Cara, Meadowlark, Flight, Pelican and Crossbill. All models have hollow-ground blades manufactured using 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, which is similar to Aus-8 in its properties, performance and function. 8Cr13MoV steel contains both molybdenum and vanadium. Molybdenum enhances the strength and hardness of the steel, vanadium its wear resistance and toughness. Carbon augments the steel's tensile strength and increases its resistance to wear and abrasion. Resulting from this recipe is blade steel that retains a sharp cutting edge over time and use. Most byrds are available with a Plain or combination plain/serrated cutting edge. The "comet" shaped opening hole is a trademark of the byrd line and is synonymous with the stringent quality requirements, high performance materials and manufacturing, which go into every knife. fully stainless handles have a sequence of ergonomic curves that fit into the palm for comfort and fatigue-free control while cutting. For additional safty, a portion of the lock release is ground away. This is a design add-on conceived by custom knifemaker David Boye and eliminates the chance of gripping the knife tightly enough to unintentionally release the lock. All byrds feature a pocket clip that clips the knife inside a pocket and it attaches to either end of the folder for tip-up or tip-down right-hand carry.

  • Length overall 7 7/8" (200 mm)
  • Blade length 3 7/16" (87 mm)

Spyderco Native 3 FRN Knife

As a manufacturer of ergonomic hard-working knives, Spyderco has few rivals. It's been said our R&D team "designs in the dark", meaning function and comfort outweigh prettiness any day. More than anything, this earned Spyderco a reputation for making hardworking knives that seem to end up in your EDC rotation more than other knives. Case in point is the Native III. Filling the hand with ergonomic comfort is a Bi-Directional textured handle molded of FRN. Dips and valleys on the handle's surface provide spots and textures the palm can grab onto. Separate expansion points along the underside of the handle: one behind the cutting edge, followed by another on the handle and a curve at the butt-end, work in concert keeping the hand firmly positioned and lessening cutting fatigue. The VG-10 blade tapers to a spear-point with a distinct swedge-grind that reduces weight and adds overall balance. Non-sharpened serrations along the spine keep the thumb planted securely while cutting or chopping. An ambidextrous tension wire clip is easy on a cloth pocket and positions the folder for tip-up carry.

  • Length overall 7 1/16" (179 mm)
  • Blade length 3 1/8" (79 mm)
  • Blade steel VG-10
  • Length closed 4" (101 mm)

Spyderco Black G-10 Paramilitary Knife

Spyderco Black G-10 Paramilitary Knife

The most awaited mid-sized survival knife of 2004. When Spyderco initially introduced our Military Model critics claimed it too large and more knife than the average user needed. Likewise, fans enthusiastically heralded the knife's big performance attributes. We arrive at the question knife manufacturers often ask themselves, "How do we satisfy both worlds and create a mid-sized knife that acts, cuts and performs like a larger knife?" Our answer was the Para Military. The PM is two-thirds the size of the original Military Model. Its flat-ground CPM-S30V blade stretches 3-3/32" long with the Spyderco Round Hole generously sized at 14mm for gloved or large hands. Furrowing above the hole presents a positioning spot for the thumb that's texture, keeping slipping to a minimum. Nested into the G-10 scale is a top-seated Heavy duty rated Compression Lock. By inlaying (nesting) the lock we increase its strength without adding thick and bulky liners. The handle expands at the front and back for advanced grip retention, eliminating forward or backward sliding. All steel and curved to keep it pinned in a pocket, the clip attaches for right-hande tip-down carry. The ultimate mid-sized survival knife. Made in Golden, Colorado.

  • Length overall 7 7/8" (200 mm)
  • Blade length 3 3/32" (81 mm)
  • Blade steel CPM-S30V
  • Length closed 4 3/4" (121 mm)
  • Cutting edge 2 15/16" (75 mm)
  • Weight 3.75 oz (108 g)
  • Hole diameter 9/16" (14 mm)
  • Blade thickness 5/32" (4 mm)
