Sypderco Military Model Black Blade Knife

A cornerstone in Spyderco's Save and Serve line up, the Military Model came about after someone asked Spyderco's owner Sal Glesser, "If your son were going into the military what folding knife would you send him with?" For certain, it had to meet the requirements of a high-performance, light-weight folder designed for hard use. To create an even more subdued blade Spyderco has blackened the blade with a BodyCote black matte coating. Since the steel is the spirit of the knife, CPM-S30V with almost 2% carbon seemed the logical choice for the blade given its reputation for long-term edge retention and rust resistance. The 'Millie' has a modified clip-point blade coated in non-reflective black then laser cut with a 14 mm Spyderco Round Hole for quick deployment and for use with gloves. Texturing above the hole hold the thumb in contact with the blade's spine during cutting for confident control over the sharpened edge. The handle scales are G-10 with the lock's liner nested (inlayed) directly into the scale, pumping up lock strength without the addition of bulky liners. Spacers between the scales create a gap running the handle's full length exposing the inside workings for inspection and cleaning. The handle flares slightly at the front end creating a finger choil and at the butt end, which keeps the knife from slipping forward or backward in the hand while sawing or making tough or aggressive cuts. A contoured black metal clip is set for right-hand tip-down carry. Made in Golden, Colorado.

  • Length overall 9 1/2" (241 mm)
  • Blade length 4" (102 mm)
  • Blade steel CPM-S30V

  • Weight 4.2 oz (120 g)

Spyderco Chinook II G-10 Knife

Spyderco Chinook II G-10 Knife

Master at Arms James A. Keating is known worldwide for his Filipino influenced martial arts style and his tactical equipment and training company jamesakeating.com. James introduced Spyderco to a folding knife design he blueprinted to complement his MBC style which he called the Chinook. The folder has a modified-Bowie-shaped blade and an MBC rated locking system so the knife could be used for cutting as well as passing or blocking. These combined features have since taken root with the MBC crowd and additionally found favor with the hard-use camp/hunting/outdoor knife industry. The Chinook's 3-3/8 inch blade is hollow-ground CPM-S30V with an upward sweeping tip and full belly. Inserted between G-10 scales, dual steel liners make a thicker than customary back lock constructing one of the strongest locking systems found on any Spyderco model. There is no sliding forward or backward on the handle because swells on both ends expand making a combination choil/handguard in the front and a pinky shelf at the butt. These expansions work to hold the hand on the handle in either forward or reverse grip. A three-screwed black metal clip is tapped for tip up/down and left/right carry. Made in Golden, Colorado.

  • length overall 8 5/8" (217 mm)
  • blade length 3 3/4" (95 mm)
  • blade steel CPM-S30V
  • length closed 4 7/8" (124 mm)

  • weight 6 oz (169 g)
  • hole diameter 9/16" (14 mm)

Spyderco Centofante 3 Knife

If you move in custom knife industry circles and/or attend knife shows you will have heard of Frank Centofante. In addition to being a celebrated and longtime custom knifemaker Frank is a past President of the Knifemaker's Guild, a strong voice in the cutlery world and a revered and respected craftsman. Collaborating on knife designs with him is something Spyderco has been fortunate enough to do several times. Our latest offering is the Centofante III gentleman's folder. The Centofante III has a thin-profiled, lightweight FRN handle. Two channels are furrowed out of the handle for better grip and a Palladium silver Spyderco bug is inlayed into its surface. For added security and convenience the back-lock is positioned midway on the spine and David Boye Dent is cut from the locking lever. The VG-10 blade has both a hollow-grind and swedge-grind with non-sharpened spine serrations to hold the thumb steady when cutting. A black steel pocket clip positions for tip-up/down, right-hand carry.

  • Length overall 7 9/16" (192 mm)

Spyderco Stainless Steel Flight Byrd Knife

Spyderco Stainless Steel Flight Byrd Knife

To date there are five models: The Cara Cara, Meadowlark, Flight, Pelican and Crossbill. All models have hollow-ground blades manufactured using 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, which is similar to Aus-8 in its properties, performance and function. 8Cr13MoV steel contains both molybdenum and vanadium. Molybdenum enhances the strength and hardness of the steel, vanadium its wear resistance and toughness. Carbon augments the steel's tensile strength and increases its resistance to wear and abrasion. Resulting from this recipe is blade steel that retains a sharp cutting edge over time and use. Most byrds are available with a Plain or combination plain/serrated cutting edge. The "comet" shaped opening hole is a trademark of the byrd line and is synonymous with the stringent quality requirements, high performance materials and manufacturing, which go into every knife. fully stainless handles have a sequence of ergonomic curves that fit into the palm for comfort and fatigue-free control while cutting. For additional safty, a portion of the lock release is ground away. This is a design add-on conceived by custom knifemaker David Boye and eliminates the chance of gripping the knife tightly enough to unintentionally release the lock. All byrds feature a pocket clip that clips the knife inside a pocket and it attaches to either end of the folder for tip-up or tip-down right-hand carry.

  • Length overall 7 7/8" (200 mm)
  • Blade length 3 7/16" (87 mm)

Spyderco Ocelot G-10 Knife

Spyderco Ocelot G-10 Knife

In reality, knives made specifically for hunting get used for cutting much more than just what you bag. It holds equally true that generic outdoor knives often find their way into the hands of the hunter field-dressing their success. The Ocelot seamlessly covers both bases crossing from sport to field and back. The blade’s drop-point tip is thick at the end and its curved full-belly makes short work of both hunting and field chores. It’s constructed with cobalt enriched VG-10 that stays sharper longer in the field where sharpness matters most. Various spots on the hollow-ground blade are textured: At the base of the spine, along the finger choil area and again behind the Spyderco Round Hole. This texturing offers tactical resistance when in contact with the thumb or index finger optimizing grip and providing slip resistance when cutting and caping. The ergonomic G-10 handle is machined with paw prints (pugs) housing full steel liners inside. An ambidextrous tip-up or tip-down clip offers multiple carry options. Centered mid-spine, a back lock features a David Boye dent, minimizing the opportunity to inadvertently release the lock while forcefully gripping the knife. A thong or lanyard can be strung through the steel lined lanyard hole for backup attachment when using the knife in water or brush. Available with PlainEdge or CombinationEdge blade.

  • Length overall 7 9/16" (192 mm)
  • Blade length 3 1/4" (83 mm)
  • Blade steel VG-10
  • Length closed 4 7/16" (113 mm)

Spyderco ATR At The Ready Black Knife

Spyderco ATR At The Ready Black Knife

Always ready. Spyderco’s stainless steel A.T.R (At The Ready) comes well-heeled with high-tech tactical features and is fully coated in non-reflective black Carbon Nitride. Drilled out of the stainless handle and clip are a series of holes. The holes lessen the folder’s weight and make position spots for the thumb and fingers to index the knife into different grip-holds. The integral Compression Lock, locks open the blade by using part of the handle scale using fewer moving and wearable parts. Tip to tang the VG-10 blade is 3- 7/16 inches (87mm) with a snub-nose that cants upward becoming thicker at the tip for extreme and strenuous use. The hollow-ground blade has an additional dagger-grind down its center effectively balancing both sides while simultaneously enhancing tip strength. Unlike a traditionally ground dagger, the spine is non-sharpened. Positioned above the Spyderco Round Hole, a Cobra HoodTM juts a flange of steel out, over either side of the blade, guiding the thumb into position over the hole for rapid, by-feel, deployment. While you cut, the Cobra Hood creates a textured seat where your thumb finds slip-resistant purchase. Pre-drilled clip holes create the option of left or right-handed use and position the folder tip-up in the pocket. Overall length is 8- 7/16 inches (213mm), overall weight is 4- 3/4 ounces (135 g).

  • Length overall 8 1/12" (216 mm)
  • Blade length 3 7/16" (87 mm)
  • Blade steel VG-10

Spyderco ATR At The Ready Stainless Steel Knife

Spyderco ATR At The Ready Stainless Steel Knife

A.T.R. is an acronym for At The Ready -- and it is. Spyderco showcases several technologically advanced features in this high-end tactical folder. The original model was released last year with a titanium handle. The new stainless handled ATR offers the same tactical features at a lower price point. Spyderco has precision machined a fistful of steel into a handle then drilled it full of holes. The holes lessen weight, doubling as indexing divots in order to rotate the folder from one grip position to another. A second set of holes machined from the contoured pocket clip line up with the handle's holes for balanced indexing. Curvy expansions on opposite ends of the handle flare outward into a choil and a pinky shelf insuring the hand remains gripped on the folder in any draw. Rated suitable for heavy or MBC-use, the Compression Lock is integrated, actually part of the handle scale. The VG-10 blade is hollow-ground with a sloping unsharpened swedge down the spine. As the tip sweeps down, the belly sweeps up to meet it, making a thick substantial tip for aggressive penetration and cutting. Seated above the Spyderco Round Hole is a Cobra Hood. While deploying the blade the thumb naturally positions itself under the overhang of the Cobra Hood properly positioning the thumb pad over the hole by feel (rapid deployment). Once opened, the textured Cobra Hood functions as a support/control seat for the thumb while cutting. Clip fastens into pre-tapped positioning holes for tip-up, left/right-hand carry.

  • Length overall 8 1/2" (216 mm)
  • Blade length 3 7/16" (87 mm)

Spyderco Native 3 FRN Knife

Spyderco Native 3 FRN Knife

As a manufacturer of ergonomic hard-working knives, Spyderco has few rivals. It's been said our R&D team "designs in the dark", meaning function and comfort outweigh prettiness any day. More than anything, this earned Spyderco a reputation for making hardworking knives that seem to end up in your EDC rotation more than other knives. Case in point is the Native III. Filling the hand with ergonomic comfort is a Bi-Directional textured handle molded of FRN. Dips and valleys on the handle's surface provide spots and textures the palm can grab onto. Separate expansion points along the underside of the handle: one behind the cutting edge, followed by another on the handle and a curve at the butt-end, work in concert keeping the hand firmly positioned and lessening cutting fatigue. The VG-10 blade tapers to a spear-point with a distinct swedge-grind that reduces weight and adds overall balance. Non-sharpened serrations along the spine keep the thumb planted securely while cutting or chopping. An ambidextrous tension wire clip is easy on a cloth pocket and positions the folder for tip-up carry.

  • Length overall 7 1/16" (179 mm)
  • Blade length 3 1/8" (79 mm)
  • Blade steel VG-10
  • Length closed 4" (101 mm)
